Treat Yourself to a Spa Day...At Home
Stressed out? Need a break? Craving rest and relaxation? I don't know a single person who could say no to any of those three questions. Life definitely has a way of getting in the way sometimes! Work, family, community activities and household chores, among hundreds of other items consume the majority of our time. Don't we wish that list would instead consist of sleep, watching movies, shopping, reading, gardening, leisure sports...? Oh, how amazing it would be that when we're asked, "Hey, want to grab lunch this afternoon?" Instead of answering, "I wish, but I have a meeting, followed by a meeting, followed by a meeting," we could say, "Sure, let me just check out with my new wardrobe. I can definitely push back my nap another two hours."
How do we find an escape from "real life" to maintain our sanity? Swedish Beauty wants you to treat yourself to a spa day...at home! It's the perfect way to refresh, renew and re-energize after a long, hard week. And, we promise it won't take too much time or break the bank. Grab a glass of wine (for those over 21:)), draw a hot bubble bath and treat your tired, worn out skin to a luxurious facial. You deserve it!
We've been busy searching for the best natural ingredients for your skin and have put together several fun homemade recipes for you to try. Everything can be purchased from your local grocery store and will only cost a few dollars to complete the recipe.
***Cleanse, Soothe & Refresh***
Half of a cucumber
Half of a lemon
Cut cucumber into 1 in pieces. Chop in food processor or blender until pieces are almost pureed. Place a coffee filter over a bowl allowing it dip into the center of the bowl. Hold in place with a rubber band around the brim of the bowl. Spoon cucumber pieces into filter to allow juice to separate into the bowl. Squeeze half of a lemon into the cucumber juice. Use cotton round to apply to entire face and neck area. Place two cucumber slices over eyes. Leave on for a few minutes, then remove with facial cloth.
Half of an avocado
2 Tbsp Honey
Slice avocado in half, remove core and cut into smaller pieces. Puree in food processor or blender until creamy and free from chunks. Add honey and mix thoroughly. Apply to face. Leave on for ten minutes then remove with warm washcloth.
***Exfoliate, Hydrate & Soften***
1 Tbsp Oatmeal
1 Tbsp Plain Yogurt (not flavored)
1 Tsp Honey
Finely grind oatmeal in food processor. Add yogurt. Warm a spoon under hot water for a few seconds then add honey, mixing with the warm spoon. Apply to face. Leave on for ten minutes then remove with warm washcloth.
***Decrease Puffiness & Wake Up Tired Skin***
4 Tbsp unsweetened Cocoa Powder
4 Tbsp finely ground Coffee Beans
2 Egg Whites
2 Tbsp Honey (for dry skin) or 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice (for oily skin)
Mix coffee and cocoa in a bowl. Add egg whites and stir until a creamy paste forms. Add honey or lemon juice. Apply to face until it dries. Use a warm washcloth to lay against face allowing the heat to loosen the mask, then remove with warm water.
***Fight Aging Skin***
1 Tea Bag Green Tea
Brew one cup of green tea for five minutes. Allow to cool until slightly warm to the touch. Cut papaya into small pieces and blend in blender until creamy paste forms. Apply to face. Dip cotton rounds into brewed tea and place over closed eyes. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes then remove with warm washcloth.
